Officials highlight the value of the Jewels of Asaf Jahis book
The Chief Secretary noted that the Jewels of Asaf Jahis book documented key structures built during the Asaf Jahi rule in Warangal. Furthermore, he said the chapters carried clear accounts of the Subedars who administered the region. He added that the details would help researchers and competitive exam aspirants because the book offered organised reference material.
Special Commissioner C.H. Priyanka attended the launch and stressed the book’s relevance. She explained that Warangal remained famous for Kakatiya sites like the Thousand Pillar Temple, Warangal Fort, and the Bhadrakali Temple. However, she pointed out that the city also held major Asaf Jahi landmarks such as the Kazipet Railway Station and the Dharmasagar Filter Bed, which now works within the Mission Bhagiratha network.
During the Asaf Jahi period, the Warangal Subah covered areas from present-day Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, and parts of Khammam. In addition, the Jewels of Asaf Jahis’ book offered rare insights into the Subedars who governed these regions. It also presented photographs of Nizam-era monuments to support the narrative and improve clarity for readers.
The Chief Secretary said the book strengthened public access to historical knowledge. He noted that the publication would help students, heritage enthusiasts, and scholars seeking a concise overview of Telangana’s past.
