Hyderabad: Thousands of devotees thronged the Tungabhadra Pushkar Ghat on Thursday evening to witness the Teppotsavam of Jogulamba temple deities. The idols of Swami and Ammavaru were taken out on a decorated Hamsa Vahanam amid dazzling electric lights.
The ten-day Devi Sharannavaratri festivities at the Jogulamba temple, one of the country’s five Shakti Peethas, concluded with the grand Vijayadashami celebrations. Priests brought the festival idols in a palanquin from the temple to the Pushkar Ghat and conducted rituals. They later performed the Tungabhadra river Harathi before placing the idols on the boat for the Teppotsavam.

During the ten days, the goddess appeared in different forms each day, drawing large crowds. On the final day, temple priests performed Maha Poornahuti, Avabhruda Snanam, and Shami Puja in the morning. The celebrations ended with the ceremonial lowering of the temple flag.
Devotees cheered as the Hamsa Vahanam, illuminated with electric lights, carried the deities across the river. Alampur temples remained packed throughout Dasara. District police, acting on the Superintendent’s instructions, deployed two circle inspectors, ten sub-inspectors, and over 100 constables under the DSP’s supervision to maintain order during the festivities.
