Hyderabad: Election officials have stepped up preparations for the Jubilee Hills by-election, announcing an increase in polling stations from 329 to 408. After a detailed rationalisation exercise, they added 79 new stations to meet voter demand and ensure smoother polling. District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner Karnan chaired a meeting with political party representatives to explain the changes and gather feedback. He said the final rationalisation report will go to the State Election Commission for approval.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are already managing the existing 329 polling stations. Officials will appoint BLOs for the 79 new stations shortly. Authorities urged political parties to submit their booth-level agent lists without delay, noting that only a few had complied so far.
Jubilee Hills by-election review covers voter enrolment and logistics
Election authorities also reviewed voter enrolment data for the constituency. Between January 6 and August 15, they received 19,237 applications. After scrutiny, they rejected 3,767 and kept the rest under verification. Officials said they are working to finalise the pending applications to ensure accuracy of the rolls before polling day. They stressed that complete and updated rolls are critical for ensuring transparency.
District Election Officer RV Karnan also appointed nodal officers to streamline arrangements. Each department now has a special officer monitoring preparations such as polling stations, security, and logistics. Officials said this step will prevent last-minute lapses and improve coordination across departments.
Authorities added that these measures show readiness for the by-election. With expanded polling facilities, voter roll verification, and coordinated arrangements, they expressed confidence in conducting the Jubilee Hills by-election smoothly.
