Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency reported the lowest voter turnout among all constituencies in the ongoing by-elections across India. Despite the voting process starting five hours earlier, polling stations remained empty as most voters stayed indoors.
Jubilee Hills voter turnout lowest at 20.76 percent
By 11 am, only 20.76% polling had been recorded in Jubilee Hills. Officials said the figure was the lowest among all constituencies voting in the current round of by-elections. Polling officers noted that the turnout was slow even after repeated appeals for public participation.
Election staff expressed concern that the overall turnout might dip further if the sluggish trend continued through the afternoon.
Poor turnout in several areas
Polling was particularly slow in localities such as Vengalrao Nagar and Madhura Nagar, where voting had not picked up even by mid-morning. Many polling centres appeared deserted, with barely a handful of voters showing up.
Officials and civic groups have repeatedly stressed the importance of voting in a democracy, but the lack of enthusiasm in Jubilee Hills has sparked concern among political observers. They pointed out that urban apathy continues to affect polling percentages in major cities.
