Hyderabad: Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao strongly criticised former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao following his speech at the BRS Silver Jubilee public meeting in Warangal, accusing him of financial mismanagement and arrogance despite losing power.

Addressing the media, Jupally Krishna Rao reminded that KCR had once praised Sonia Gandhi as a deity. “It was Sonia Gandhi who granted Telangana. Yet today, KCR seeks to vilify the very party that made statehood possible,” he said.

He accused KCR of plunging a once-wealthy Telangana into a debt trap. “Why could KCR not properly implement loan waivers during his 10-year rule? His so-called loan waivers were not even enough to cover the interest amounts,” Jupally Krishna Rao said.

Criticising KCR’s handling of state assets, Jupally Krishna Rao alleged that KCR sold off valuable assets like the Outer Ring Road, which was likened to an inexhaustible resource (Akshayapatra).

Even after losing power, KCR continued to display arrogance, Jupally Krishna Rao remarked. He questioned why KCR was the only speaker at his own public meeting. “It is like a tamarind tree refusing to lose its sourness even after drying up,” he quipped, describing KCR’s attitude.

Jupally Krishna Rao challenged KCR to explain how his party managed to accumulate ₹1,500 crore in funds if he claimed to be a man of integrity.

He further alleged that for the Warangal meeting, the BRS had spent between ₹3 to ₹4 lakh per village to mobilise crowds. “Despite spending huge sums, the people’s response was lukewarm,” he said.

Pointing to corruption, Jupally Krishna Rao claimed that an irrigation CE who served under KCR had amassed assets worth over ₹100 crore. “If searches are conducted at KCR’s premises, thousands of crores will be unearthed,” he alleged.

Jupally Krishna Rao confidently stated that the Congress government would return to power once again.
