Hyderabad: After a brief lull, flash floods returned to the Jurala Project as heavy rain lashed upstream regions in Maharashtra and Karnataka, sharply increasing inflows by Friday midnight.
Officials lifted all 23 radial gates to release the surging waters, sending a floodwave downstream toward the Srisailam reservoir.
The project is currently receiving 1,15,000 cusecs of inflow, while 1,24,562 cusecs are being discharged through the open gates. The full reservoir level stands at 318.516 metres, with current water level at 317.520 metres.
Authorities remain on alert, monitoring hourly upstream inflows and issuing real-time warnings to vulnerable downstream communities. Officials said further increases in flood volume remain likely if upstream rainfall persists.
