Hyderabad: Massive inflows into Jurala and Nagarjuna Sagar reservoirs have prompted officials to release large volumes of floodwater by lifting multiple crest gates.
At the Jurala project, authorities opened 39 crest gates to manage the continuing flood. Inflow into the reservoir stood at 4.85 lakh cusecs, while the outflow reached 4.94 lakh cusecs. The water level remained at 317.370 metres, slightly below the full reservoir level of 318.51 metres. Current storage is 7.407 TMC, compared to the full capacity of 9.657 TMC.
Jurala, Nagarjuna Sagar flood triggers massive water discharge
Flood intensity also increased sharply at Nagarjuna Sagar. Officials raised 26 gates by 15 feet to let out water. The inflow was 4.39 lakh cusecs, and the outflow reached 5.83 lakh cusecs. Of this, 5.41 lakh cusecs were released through the spillway and 33,373 cusecs via the power house.
The current water level at Nagarjuna Sagar stood at 586.70 feet, just short of the full level of 590 feet. Storage in the reservoir reached 303.94 TMC, close to the total capacity of 312.04 TMC.
