Hyderabad: The inquiry headed by Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose into the alleged irregularities surrounding the Kaleshwaram project has entered its final stage, with sources confirming that the commission will submit its report to the State government by July 27.
The commission has been investigating design, construction, quality, and maintenance lapses linked to the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages since last year. As part of its work, the panel has recorded statements and cross-examined affidavits from former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, former irrigation minister Harish Rao, and former finance minister Eatala Rajender, along with several senior engineers and officials.
In a significant move, the commission has now summoned former engineer-in-chief of the Irrigation department, M. Anil Kumar, for questioning on July 9. Anil Kumar was reportedly pulled up for providing a misleading statement while holding a critical technical post, especially over concealment related to grounding issues at the Medigadda barrage.
Justice Ghose’s team has also reviewed cabinet meeting minutes of the previous government pertaining to the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme and associated works, sources said.
The findings are expected to shape further accountability measures in one of Telangana’s biggest irrigation projects.
