BRS MLC K Kavitha has launched a postcard campaign, demanding that the Congress government fulfill its promise of ₹2,500 monthly assistance to women in Telangana.
HYDERABAD: In an effort to hold the Congress government accountable for its electoral promises to women, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha has launched a postcard campaign under the banner of Telangana Jagruthi. Addressing the media on Monday, Kavitha announced that 10,000 postcards from women activists are being sent to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, urging him to implement the promised ₹2,500 monthly assistance for women.
Kavitha has set a deadline of March 8 for the government to take action. She warned that if the promise remains unfulfilled, the campaign would escalate, with lakhs of postcards being sent to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi. Expressing dissatisfaction, she accused the Chief Minister of lacking empathy towards women’s issues and criticized the Congress government for neglecting women’s welfare.
Recalling previous commitments, Kavitha highlighted that the Congress had pledged to distribute scooters to women aged 18 and above and provide interest-free loans up to ₹20 lakh. However, she alleged that these promises have not been honored, accusing the government of misleading women with false assurances.
Kavitha also raised concerns about the suspension of the KCR Kit distribution program and the need to increase pensions to ₹4,000. She urged the government to take immediate steps to improve women’s safety and welfare in the state by reviewing and implementing necessary measures without further delay.
The postcard campaign reflects growing discontent among women’s groups regarding unfulfilled promises. It aims to pressure the Congress government into taking concrete steps toward women’s empowerment and welfare in Telangana.
