Hyderabad: Praja Shanti Party founder K.A. Paul has stirred a storm with his latest claims, asserting that he has the power to prevent a potential war between India and Pakistan.
Speaking to reporters in Anantapur, Paul claimed he’s been regularly communicating with leaders on both sides of the border, insisting that his backchannel efforts are aimed at preventing a potential conflict.
His statement, captured in a short video clip, quickly found its way onto social media — triggering a flurry of reactions, with some mocking his self-appointed role as a peace envoy. Paul said he had recently made a quiet, three-day trip to the United States, where he allegedly met senior officials who, according to him, supported his efforts to mediate peace between India and Pakistan.
He further added that he’s expecting to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, May 10. The very next day, he claims, he plans to travel to Pakistan as part of what he described as a personal “peace mission.”
Paul also referred to a previous visit he made to Pakistan back in 2002 — at a time, he noted, when Modi was still serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. He claimed that unlike many global players, his diplomatic efforts are focused on “targeting terrorists, not civilians”, under what he termed as “Operation Sindoor”.
While his assertions drew widespread scepticism, another set of remarks has fuelled further controversy. Paul alleged that former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is “not a real Christian”, claiming instead that he is a devotee of Chinna Jeeyar Swamy. He went on to blame Jagan’s electoral defeat on not seeking his support and blessings.
These remarks triggered swift reactions online, with many social media users demanding the removal of his video posts and criticising him for using religion and politics for self-promotion.
Adding to the mix, Paul said he had approached the High Court seeking an investigation into the murder of Pastor Praveen, implying a larger conspiracy behind the killing.
With his dramatic declarations and divisive statements, Paul has once again captured the spotlight, albeit under a cloud of controversy.
