HYDERABAD: KA Paul, the National President of the Praja Shanti Party, has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking stringent action against betting and gaming apps, as well as the celebrities endorsing them. This move follows his earlier demand for action against these apps and their promoters, failing which he had vowed to approach the Supreme Court.
Speaking to the media after filing the petition, Paul emphasized that these betting and gaming apps are more dangerous than drugs, highlighting their widespread availability on smartphones. He criticized prominent athletes, actors, and celebrities for promoting these apps, stating that while they are considered role models by the youth and students, their endorsements are leading young people astray.
Paul demanded that celebrities who have promoted these betting apps should acknowledge their mistake and issue public apologies within 72 hours. He also called for compensation to be provided to individuals and families who have suffered losses due to these endorsements. Paul warned that he would not spare any celebrity involved in promoting these apps, clarifying that this is not a threat but a commitment to take action against them.
