HYDERABAD: Congress MLA Kadiyam Srihari has criticised Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders for politicising the 400-acre land issue in Kanche Gachibowli, Serilingampally Mandal, Ranga Reddy district. Addressing the media on Thursday, Srihari emphasised that the land in question is government-owned, a fact acknowledged by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and upheld by a Supreme Court verdict.
Srihari expressed disapproval of the current political manoeuvres surrounding the land, labelling them as shameful. He highlighted the state’s substantial debts, amounting to lakhs of crores, and the financial challenges in sustaining welfare schemes. To address these fiscal issues, the government is contemplating the sale of certain lands, including the Kanche Gachibowli property, to generate revenue and ensure the continuation of welfare programmes.
The MLA’s remarks come amid ongoing protests by Hyderabad Central University (HCU) students, who are opposing the auctioning and deforestation activities on the disputed land.
