Hyderabad: Heavy rains triggered the Kagna river to overflow in Vikarabad district, submerging the Mahadev Lingeshwar temple at Jeevangi in Basheerabad mandal. The temple, located on the riverbank, was engulfed as the river surged. A stationary private school bus was tied with ropes to prevent it from being swept away. Residents living near the river feared floodwaters would enter their homes.
In Tandur mandal, Veer Shettipally village remained cut off from the outside world since midnight Wednesday after the Kagna surrounded the settlement. Villagers alleged that no government assistance had reached them despite being stranded.
