Kaleshwaram collapsed due to KCR’s overconfidence, says MP Chamala

KCR’s Overconfidence

Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday dismissed allegations of political vendetta over ongoing investigations into irregularities during the previous BRS regime, stating that those who looted public money must naturally face inquiries.

Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, he questioned why accountability should be seen as revenge. “If we fail tomorrow, commissions will come for us as well. But today, we are governing responsibly,” he said, adding that those who ruled for ten years are now frustrated, seeing their actions being scrutinised within just one-and-a-half years of Congress rule.

Kiran Kumar Reddy took a sharp dig at BRS working president K T Rama Rao, saying, “There are many opposition leaders who speak better English than KTR, but none of them have sown the kind of poison that BRS has.” Referring to recent emotional remarks from Kavitha, he mocked the KCR family for turning every political development into yet another “family drama episode”. He quipped that even a single notice has left them shaken.

The MP accused the KCR family of constantly trying to mislead Telangana society with diversionary tactics round the clock. “Our government is working efficiently. We don’t need diversion politics. The opposition leader isn’t even available to the people or attending the Assembly. Opposition isn’t about tweeting from afar; our Chief Minister and ministers are on the ground daily, directly engaging with citizens,” he added.

On Kaleshwaram, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that had the project been properly constructed and provided irrigation as promised, there would have been no need for the current P C Ghose Commission probe. Taking aim at KTR’s earlier boast that even countries like China take 18 years to build such projects while KCR completed Kaleshwaram in just four, he alleged that the rush was driven purely by greed for commissions.

He stressed that today’s situation is not a result of political targeting but rather the natural outcome of the BRS government’s own flawed decisions. “I never considered KCR to be some Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. The downfall of Kaleshwaram is entirely due to his overconfidence,” he concluded.
