Hyderabad: The judicial commission led by Justice (Retd.) P.C. Ghose has completed its investigation into alleged irregularities in the construction of the Kaleshwaram irrigation project. The report, around 400 pages long, is likely to be submitted to the state government between 22 and 24 May.
The commission examined design flaws, structural quality, and maintenance issues at Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages. Statements from several government officials were recorded. It also reviewed reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), Vigilance, and the National Dam Safety Authority.
Initially, the commission had considered summoning former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, and E. Rajender for questioning. That plan was later deferred. With the report now finalised, chances of their appearance before the commission have faded.
The judicial commission was set up in March 2024 by the current government to probe into corruption and irregularities linked to the Kaleshwaram project. Its tenure had been extended multiple times during the course of the inquiry.
