Hyderabad: Former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Monday accused the Congress party of betraying Backward Classes (BCs) by failing to implement any of the promises made to them during the elections.
Kavitha held a meeting with leaders of over 70 BC communities at the Telangana Jagruthi office in Banjara Hills to discuss strategies for securing 42 percent reservations for BCs in the state.
Congress accused of ignoring BC declaration
Kavitha said the Congress had backtracked on the Kamareddy BC Declaration and demanded that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi explain why they had not raised the issue of Telangana BC reservations in Parliament.
She added that local body elections should be held only after implementing 42 percent BC reservations.
Movement plan for 42 percent reservations
Kavitha said a movement plan would be prepared in coordination with BC associations to mount pressure on the government. She asserted that the demand for 42 percent reservations would continue until fulfilled.
