Kamareddy: In a chilling incident in Telangana’s Kamareddy district, a man murdered a woman to avoid repaying a loan, with the case being solved within 48 hours of the crime. District Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chandra revealed the details of the case to the media on Friday.
The victim, Chidura Kavitha (44), a resident of Narsannapalli village, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in an agricultural field on April 30. Acting on a complaint filed by her family, the police launched an investigation and soon arrested Jangampalli Mahesh, a known offender from Chintamanpalli village in Domakonda mandal.
According to the police, Mahesh had previously been involved in a murder case and had borrowed ₹1 lakh from Kavitha to secure bail. When she began asking for the money back, Mahesh decided to eliminate her instead of repaying the debt. On April 30, he lured her to a farm under the pretext of returning the amount. Once there, he struck her forcefully on the face, and when she collapsed, he strangled her using the end of her sari.
Mahesh then stole her gold jewellery—including earrings, nose studs, and a curved ring—as well as her mobile phone, and fled the scene. Police successfully recovered the stolen items upon his arrest.
SP Rajesh Chandra commended Kamareddy Rural Circle Inspector Raman, Devunipalli Sub-Inspector Raju, and members of the crime team for swiftly cracking the case. The officers were praised for their prompt and effective investigation.
