Kamareddy police busted fake notes racket

Hyderabad: Kamareddy police busted an interstate fake notes racket and arrested eight members of a 12-person gang, Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chandra said.

The operation dismantled a network that supplied counterfeit currency to customers in several states via courier. Officers detained customers and said some gang members remained at large. Investigators traced links to Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Maharashtra.

Police seized counterfeit notes worth Rs 3.08 lakh from the suspects. Additionally, investigators impounded laptops, printers, cars and mobile phones used in the operation. The team identified that the gang had arranged customers across multiple states and delivered the fake notes through courier services.

Evidence and follow-up in the fake notes racket

SP Rajesh Chandra said eight suspects had been arrested and would be produced for remand. He added that further arrests were expected as teams tracked the absconding members. Police estimated that nearly Rs 25 lakh in counterfeit notes had already entered circulation across five states.

Officers also confirmed that the gang used two Rs 500 fake notes as part of wider deliveries to regional customers. The probe continued, and authorities were examining digital records and devices recovered from the raid.
