Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Friday paid tribute to Indian soldiers who died in the 1999 Kargil war, calling their sacrifice a testament to India’s military valour and resolve. Speaking to the media on Kargil Vijay Diwas, he said the Indian Army thwarted Pakistan’s grave conspiracy to infiltrate through the Kargil region with unmatched courage.
He credited the leadership of then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for steering India to a decisive victory. “Our forces drove out infiltrators, reclaimed Indian territory and set an example of unflinching bravery. The sacrifices of our soldiers will never be forgotten,” Rao said.
The BJP and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha are organising commemorative events across the state to honour the martyrs. Rao said these events aim to rekindle patriotic spirit, especially among children and youth participating in the programs.
Highlighting India’s robust military posture, he pointed to recent surgical strikes and air operations as proof that the country is no longer vulnerable to conventional or proxy aggression. “Pakistan can no longer attack us directly. Even its use of terror proxies will be countered. Every citizen today stands ready to defend the nation,” he said.
Rao said Kargil Vijay Diwas should inspire younger generations with a renewed sense of nationalism and readiness to serve the country.
