Hyderabad, January 25: In a surprising turn of events, Karimnagar Mayor Sunil Rao has resigned from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party, citing pervasive corruption within its ranks.
Addressing the media in Karimnagar, Rao expressed his inability to tolerate the alleged corruption in projects such as the River Front and Smart City initiatives. He claimed that significant irregularities have occurred in these ventures. Sunil Rao further stated that he possesses detailed records of corruption involving various BRS leaders and warned that he would disclose these details when appropriate. He also mentioned his intention to reveal the name of a particular corrupt leader in the near future.
Following his resignation, Sunil Rao, along with ten municipal corporators, is expected to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay.
