Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested two government employees in Karimnagar for accepting a bribe of ₹8,000 to clear pending vehicle hire bills.
The accused have been identified as Sharath, Assistant Engineer (AO-1), and Venugopal, Senior Assistant (AO-2), both attached to the office of the Executive Engineer (Panchayat Raj), Vigilance and Quality Control Division, Karimnagar.
According to ACB officials, the two demanded the bribe from a complainant in return for preparing hire vehicle bills that had been pending for six months. The ACB team caught them at their office around 4:43 p.m. while accepting the money.
The bribe amount was recovered during the operation. ACB noted that both officers acted dishonestly and in violation of their duties to gain undue benefit.
Following the trap, both AO-1 and AO-2 were arrested and produced before the Special Judge for ACB cases in Karimnagar. The investigation is ongoing. The identity of the complainant has been kept confidential for security reasons.
The ACB has urged citizens to report any bribe demands by public servants to its toll-free number 1064. Reports can also be submitted via WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB), and X (@TelanganaACB).
