Centre, state must be held accountable for displacing Adivasis in Karre Gutta: Tudumdebha leader

HYDERABAD: Burs Pochayya, founding president of the Tudumdebha organisation, has strongly condemned attempts to displace Adivasi communities from Karre Gutta, demanding immediate intervention from both the Central and state governments.

Speaking at a press meet held at Somajiguda Press Club, Pochayya held the authorities directly responsible for the ongoing efforts to remove indigenous people from their land. He urged the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognisance of the issue and put a stop to what he described as “Operation Kagar,” calling it a systematic attempt to uproot Adivasis.

Pochayya also criticised the violence against tribals in Chhattisgarh, referring to it as a “massacre” and called on the Union government to immediately end the bloodshed.

His remarks have brought renewed attention to the issue of tribal displacement and alleged state-backed operations targeting forest-dwelling communities in the region. Activists and tribal leaders are now pressing for judicial intervention and greater protection of Adivasi rights under constitutional provisions.
