Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi President Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Monday accused the Congress government of betraying Singareni workers by cutting their annual bonus by over 60%.
Posting on X, Kavitha said Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) expects ₹6,000 crore in net profit for 2024–25. The company plans to produce 69.01 million tonnes of coal. According to the government’s own formula, workers are entitled to 34% of these profits.
Based on this share, workers should have received ₹2,040 crore in bonus. Kavitha noted that the government approved only ₹819 crore instead, offering no clear explanation for the shortfall.
She slammed the decision as an exploitation of workers who built the company’s success. “The government talks of development while looting workers’ rightful earnings,” she said. “It is using their labour to expand operations, then denying them a fair share.”
Kavitha said this move proves the Congress government remains anti-labour. She urged workers to respond strongly and politically to this injustice.
