Hyderabad: BRS MLC and Telangana Jagruti president K. Kavitha on Sunday alleged that her father and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s image had been damaged due to the actions of leaders close to him, including former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao and former MP Santosh Kumar.
Addressing a press conference, Kavitha claimed Harish Rao and Santosh conspired against her several times but she remained silent for the party’s sake. She said KCR had worked tirelessly for Telangana while others around him pursued personal gain. “KCR is being unfairly targeted for the misdeeds of a few. As his daughter, I feel deep pain,” she said.

Kavitha also alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had struck a “slanderous agreement” with Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar, ensuring that criticism remained focused only on KCR. On the Kaleshwaram issue, she said a minor fault was being exaggerated. “Even if a small part of the project sinks, they act as if the entire project has collapsed. This is deliberate slander against my father,” she remarked.
She revealed that this was the first time she was openly naming those who, in her view, had harmed KCR and the party. “This situation came to KCR because of evildoers like Harish Rao and Santosh. Even if it hurts the party in upcoming elections, I will continue to speak the truth,” she said.
Kavitha also criticised her party for not defending KCR during the Assembly debate on Kaleshwaram and for failing to call a Telangana bandh after the state government ordered a CBI probe.
“My father is like the Himalayas. It is painful when he is accused of corruption. He even struggled financially during my marriage. Wouldn’t it hurt me if a CBI probe is ordered against such a god-like father?” she asked.
