HYDERABAD: MLC K. Kavitha’s recent remarks lamenting the lack of comprehensive social justice in Telangana, even after achieving statehood, have triggered sharp political responses and public debate.
Kavitha acknowledged that while the BRS government offered ₹10,000 per acre annually to farmers under Rythu Bandhu, it failed to provide any direct financial assistance to the landless poor. Her comments have since gone viral and ignited strong political reactions.
Congress government whip Beerla Ilaiah launched a scathing counterattack, accusing the BRS regime under KCR of plunging the state into financial ruin with ₹8 lakh crore in debt.
“If MLC Kavitha truly cared for all sections, why didn’t she raise these issues when she held power?” Ilaiah questioned. “Now that the BRS is out of office, they suddenly remember the neglected.”
He defended the Congress government’s performance, asserting that under CM Revanth Reddy’s leadership, Telangana is witnessing efficient governance and equitable welfare delivery.
“Every household is receiving the benefits of the schemes we promised. Unlike the previous regime, we are working to clear the massive debts left behind while ensuring that social justice is more than just a slogan,” Ilaiah added.
He concluded by saying that the Congress administration, guided by Rahul Gandhi’s vision, is committed to real grassroots development, not hollow populism.
