Kavitha slams Congress over maize procurement crisis in Nizamabad

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Wednesday lashed out at the Congress government over its failure to set up maize procurement centres in the undivided Nizamabad district. She alleged that farmers who trusted Congress are now paying the price for that vote.

Taking to social media platform X, Kavitha said farmers are being forced to sell maize well below the Minimum Support Price (MSP) as middlemen have begun operating informal procurement centres. These traders are allegedly purchasing produce at rates up to ₹400 lower than MSP.

Maize procurement crisis: Kavitha says farmers abandoned

Kavitha questioned whether the state government still existed, given its silence on such blatant violations. “How can dalals be allowed to run procurement centres and exploit farmers?” she asked.

She further accused the Congress of betraying its promises on Rythu Bharosa and farm loan waivers. “This government failed to provide even seeds and fertilisers on time,” she said.

Despite farmers working tirelessly to grow their crops, the government is unable to ensure procurement at support prices, Kavitha alleged. She warned that people would soon teach this administration a harsh lesson for prioritising political interests over public suffering.
