Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha urged the State government to raise compensation for cyclone-hit Telangana farmers from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 per acre. She said farmers had lost their entire crops to the recent heavy rains and needed stronger support.
Kavitha demands higher aid for farmers hit by cyclone
Kavitha said the floods washed away months of hard work, leaving farmers in deep distress. She added that many had no resources left to prepare for the next crop season. Referring to the situation in Husnabad of Siddipet district, she said the plight of a woman farmer named Tharavva, who broke down before officials, showed how severe the losses were.
She also shared Tharavva’s video on social media to draw attention to the farmers’ suffering. According to Kavitha, crops spread across 4.5 lakh acres were damaged by the rains across Telangana.
Kavitha calls for free farm inputs and faster relief
Kavitha said the government must act immediately to reassure farmers during this crisis. She demanded ₹50,000 per acre compensation, free seeds and fertilisers for Yasangi (Rabi) crops, and faster release of Rythu Bharosa funds. Moreover, she said timely help would restore confidence among affected farmers and help them recover from their losses.
