Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi President Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Tuesday called on the state government to double the financial aid for tribal Gussadi festivals, accusing the Congress-led administration of halting progress in tribal areas.
Marking Komaram Bheem’s birth anniversary, Kavitha offered floral tributes at his statue on Tank Bund. She praised the tribal icon’s legacy, stating that his sacrifice secured crucial rights for Adivasi communities and continues to fuel Jagruthi’s advocacy.
“Komaram Bheem, through his martyrdom, secured several entitlements for tribal people. He remains a guiding force for our work,” she said.
According to Kavitha, the previous government provided ₹25,000 annually to every tribal village for Gussadi festivals. However, with rising costs, she urged the Congress regime to increase the amount to ₹50,000.
“These festivals express the cultural essence of tribal communities. Therefore, safeguarding them is vital,” she asserted.
Kavitha further alleged that basic services have deteriorated in tribal regions under the Congress rule. “Women in these areas lack access to essential maternity care. Development has clearly stalled,” she claimed.
To address these challenges, she said Telangana Jagruthi is actively engaging with tribal communities. “We are conducting consultations led by our tribal wing president Lokini Raju. As a result, a comprehensive action plan for tribal rights will be unveiled shortly,” she added.
