Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha welcomed the Expert Appraisal Committee’s decision to reject environmental clearance for the Godavari–Banakacharla project, calling it a significant victory for both Telangana Jagruthi and the BRS.
She accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of aligning with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and said the Congress government had failed to safeguard Telangana’s interests in the inter-state water dispute.
Kavitha demanded that the Centre immediately convene a meeting of the Apex Council to address Telangana’s water allocation from the Godavari basin. She maintained that no approval should be granted for the Godavari–Banakacharla lift irrigation project until Telangana’s entitlement of 968 TMC is distributed and finalised on a project-wise basis.
