Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha on Monday described the leadership of party president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao as a golden era for agriculture in Telangana.
She said farming in the state received new life under KCR’s stewardship, adding that agricultural output value had grown by over ₹70,000 crore in the past ten years, a figure acknowledged by the Union Ministry of Statistics.
Kavitha credited several key programmes for this turnaround, including Mission Kakatiya to restore tanks, the Kaleshwaram project to bring Godavari water to arid areas, uninterrupted free power supply, timely seed and fertilizer distribution, and farmer welfare schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima.
She also highlighted the creation of rural agriculture centres, formal clearances for pump sets on canals, and the abolition of water tax and agricultural land tax as further reforms.
According to Kavitha, these irrigation and investment measures helped revive farming, which had been on the verge of collapse.
