Hyderabad: Farmers across Telangana are facing long waits and mounting frustration as they scramble to purchase urea fertiliser amid widespread rainfall. Early morning queues have become routine at Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies, with cultivators marking their spots with slippers and waiting hours for their turn.
As the urea shortage deepens, BRS MLC and Telangana Jagruthi founder K. Kavitha has slammed the state government over its handling of the situation. Taking to X, she questioned the government’s preparedness and pointed out that farmers have been struggling since the start of the monsoon season.
She took aim at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, mocking his delayed response and claiming he was the only CM in the country to hold a review on agriculture a month and a half into the season. “Even today, farmers’ problems remain unresolved,” she said, alleging that daily hurdles for fertiliser continue unabated.
Kavitha argued the government could have acted preemptively to prevent the current queues and chaos. “Had they been alert before the season, our food-growers wouldn’t be suffering like this,” she said.
Blaming both state apathy and central indifference, Kavitha claimed farmers were abandoning fieldwork to chase fertiliser. She insisted the state must aggressively pursue its rightful urea quota from the Centre rather than resort to threats, demanding urgent action to relieve farmers’ burdens.
