Kavitha says she may launch new political party if public demands it

Hyderabad: Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Thursday said she is open to launching a new political party in Telangana if there is public demand for it.

Speaking to the media after visiting the Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Yadagirigutta in Yadadri Bhongir district, Kavitha said Telangana Jagruthi had always engaged with political issues despite being a non-governmental organisation. She emphasised that political involvement does not require party affiliation.

Kavitha to launch ‘Janam Bata’ from October 25

Kavitha announced a new public outreach campaign titled Janam Bata, which will begin on October 25 from her hometown of Nizamabad. The programme will cover all 33 districts of Telangana over a four-month period.

“We will spend two days in each district to understand people’s problems directly. I will meet farmers, youth, women, intellectuals, and professionals during the yatra,” she said. According to her, the goal is to gather input from the public and find meaningful solutions to their issues.

Political engagement through civil society

She said Telangana Jagruthi has worked on both social and political issues over the past 19 years. During the Telangana movement as well, the organisation participated in discussions that shaped the State’s political future.

“We are open to political dialogue whenever needed. If the public wants a party to emerge from these engagements, we will not hesitate to support it,” she said.

Kavitha pointed out that multiple regional parties function in neighbouring states. “Andhra Pradesh has three regional parties, Tamil Nadu has two, and Kerala has parties in every street. So the question is not about how many parties exist, but whether they serve the people,” she added.

She clarified that any political party she might establish would not be for personal gain. “If we ever float a party, it will be to serve the public interest. We will decide based on the feedback from Janam Bata,” she said.
