Hyderabad: MLC K. Kavitha strongly criticised the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Wednesday, just hours after the party suspended her for alleged anti-party activities. She addressed the media from the Telangana Jagruthi headquarters in Jubilee Hills, where she read out the suspension order and called it part of a larger conspiracy.
Beginning her speech with slogans of “Jai Telangana” and “Jai Jagruthi,” Kavitha said she learned the spirit of struggle by holding her father K. Chandrashekar Rao’s finger during the Telangana movement. She asked how wearing the party scarf while protesting could be seen as anti-party activity.
Kavitha said she would respond to two key points in the suspension notice. Since her release from Tihar Jail, she said, she had fought on several public issues. These included protests on welfare lapses in government-run schools, land displacement in Banakacharla, and campaigns for increased pensions. She also claimed to have worked across 47 constituencies since November, raising women’s issues and public grievances.
“Not about discipline this is about power”
Kavitha accused BRS leaders T. Harish Rao and B. Santosh Rao of leading a deliberate smear campaign against her. “Just because there’s gold in their homes doesn’t mean we’ve built a golden Telangana,” she said.
She said she informed working president K.T. Rama Rao about the conspiracy. However, even after 103 days, he had not asked about her or her well-being. “If a woman MLC is going through a crisis and her own brother doesn’t reach out, what does that tell us about party leadership?” she asked.
Kavitha alleged that people motivated by personal gain forced her out of the party. She also warned that similar conspiracies could target KTR and even KCR in the future.
