HYDERABAD: Addressing party workers at the BRS Cadre Meet held in Bhadrachalam, BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha reaffirmed her unwavering dedication to K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and the party’s grassroots cadre. She said she would always be available to the workers, whom she regarded as her responsibility to protect and support.
Sharp criticism of Congress, defence of BRS
Launching a scathing attack on the Congress government, Kavitha accused the party of betraying Telangana and said it was the responsibility of every BRS worker to safeguard the state from further harm. She pointed out that despite having three ministers from Khammam district, there had been no tangible development. She alleged that poor families had been deceived under the Aatma Nirbhar scheme, with promised financial aid not being delivered.
Questions on loans, schemes, and unfulfilled promises
Kavitha also targeted Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, accusing him of making misleading statements regarding government borrowings. She questioned the utilisation of ₹1.6 lakh crore borrowed by the government and criticised the silence surrounding these funds. She further alleged that government land worth ₹40,000 crore was mortgaged for just ₹10,000 crore, yet farmers were denied loan waivers and benefits under the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
Highlighting BRS’s role in Telangana’s progress
She said the current government may appear to represent Telangana, but its actions run counter to the state’s interests. Kavitha accused the Congress of making numerous false promises, failing to deliver even one of them in the 16 months since coming to power. In contrast, she praised KCR for working tirelessly for the state’s progress, citing the Sitarama Project, which irrigated 3.5 lakh acres, as an example of BRS’s developmental vision.
Khammam: the birthplace of the Telangana movement
Recalling history, Kavitha noted that the Telangana movement began in Khammam district in 1969 before spreading across the state. She called Bhadradri MLA Tellam Venkata Rao a traitor for switching to Congress after winning on a BRS ticket. She expressed confidence that BRS would win a by-election in Bhadradri with a strong majority if held.
Congress’s nature is betrayal, warns Kavitha
Kavitha cautioned party workers against complacency, warning that the Congress could derail Telangana’s progress if not countered. She reminded them of KCR’s repeated warnings to stay vigilant, stressing that deception is in Congress’s very nature.
