Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president Kavitha criticised the Congress and BRS for ignoring the problems of cotton farmers. She said the government showed more concern for the Jubilee Hills by-election than for farmers’ distress.
Speaking to reporters in Adilabad on Tuesday, Kavitha said Rahul Gandhi made promises to farmers during his Warangal visit but did not act on them. “No farmer in Telangana is happy today,” she said.
Kavitha cotton farmers Telangana criticism targets ruling parties
Kavitha said the recent Mentha storm increased moisture levels in cotton. Yet, no leader from the Congress, BJP, or BRS came forward to address the issue. She said she would request the Union Minister to accept cotton with 20–25 percent moisture due to regional weather conditions in Andhra and Telangana.
She remarked that farmers often say their troubles would end only if they lived in Jubilee Hills, pointing to the government’s misplaced priorities.
Kavitha also criticised the Congress government for failing to deliver on its promise of fee reimbursement. She said the government was treating the scheme like an EMI system, burdening poor students. She urged private college managements to close their institutions symbolically and assured them of Telangana Jagruthi’s support.
Kavitha denies new party plan, says focus on public issues
Reacting to reports about a new political party, Kavitha denied any such plan. She said her Prajabaata programme would continue until April 13 to understand public problems.
Kavitha clarified that the Jagruthi Janam Baata movement was not political but a public-driven campaign. She said Telangana Jagruthi would strengthen its organisation and that many old and new members were ready to join her in the mission.
