Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi President Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Tuesday accused the Congress government of cheating Singareni coal workers by denying their rightful profit bonus despite high coal production.
Speaking in Godavarikhani, Kavitha said the workers risked their lives to generate profits for the State. “They turned sweat into revenue. Instead of rewarding them, the government insulted them,” she said.
She criticised the Congress for announcing a bonus that falls far short of legal entitlements. “Calling this a profit bonus is misleading. It hides the fact that workers were denied what they deserve,” she stated.
Kavitha also slammed the government for staging the announcement by gathering coal belt MLAs and ministers. She called it a political stunt aimed at masking the betrayal. She warned that political interference in Singareni operations has become excessive and dangerous.
On her way to the Bathukamma celebrations in Srirampur, Kavitha stopped in Godavarikhani to offer floral tributes to the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar.
HMS State President Riaz Ahmed and Jagruthi leaders Nitturi Raju, Venkatesh, and Pratap joined her during the visit.
