Hyderabad: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Saturday appealed to voters to reject the Congress party in the upcoming local body elections, accusing the Revanth Reddy-led government of failing to deliver on key poll promises.
While paying tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Kakunoor village in Ranga Reddy district, Kavitha posted symbolic postcards to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, demanding implementation of the party’s guarantee of ₹2,500 monthly support to women and a hike in pensions for disabled, elderly, and widowed citizens to ₹6,000.
She alleged that the Congress government owes ₹5 crore in pending benefits to the women of Kakunoor and called for a “silent movement” to secure scooties for disabled persons. Kavitha pointed out that Kalyana Lakshmi a scheme started under former CM KCR was inspired by Mahbubnagar and provided ₹1 lakh for women’s marriage expenses. She criticised the Congress for failing to deliver the promised one tola gold under the scheme even after 18 months in office.
On irrigation, Kavitha claimed 90% of the Palamuru lift project was completed under the BRS regime and accused the current government of neglecting the final leg while allegedly favouring its own Kodangal lift scheme with large advance allocations.
Calling CM Revanth Reddy’s leadership ineffective, she accused him of merely invoking KCR’s name without delivering governance. Kavitha urged people to vote against the Congress in the local elections to send a strong message.
