HYDERABAD: BRS MLC Kavitha launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi during his Hyderabad visit, accusing the Congress leader of making false promises and neglecting the people of Telangana.
Kavitha labelled Rahul Gandhi as an “election-time Gandhi,” alleging that he visits Telangana only during elections to mislead the public with empty promises. She questioned why Rahul Gandhi remained silent on the human rights violations allegedly committed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s Congress government.
She charged that the Congress administration had bulldozed homes of the poor, committed atrocities against women, and used force against students, yet Rahul Gandhi did not respond to any of these issues.
Kavitha further challenged Rahul Gandhi to explain the status of the Congress’s “six guarantees” and “420 promises” made during the elections. She pointed out that promises such as farm loan waivers, ₹2,500 monthly assistance for women, a tola of gold, and scooters for 18-year-old girls remain unfulfilled. She demanded that Rahul Gandhi hold Revanth Reddy accountable for failing to deliver on these commitments.
Kavitha also urged Rahul Gandhi to visit students at Hyderabad Central University, who were reportedly subjected to police excesses, and to listen to the grievances of Group-1 exam candidates. She emphasised that Rahul Gandhi should focus on addressing the real problems faced by the people of Telangana rather than making false promises during election campaigns.
