Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Monday lashed out at the current Telangana leadership, accusing them of ignoring the sacrifices of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the state’s creation.
Speaking after hoisting the national flag at the new Telangana Jagruthi office on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day, Kavitha paid homage to the families who bore the brunt of the struggle, particularly the mothers who lost their children in the fight for statehood.
She lauded the unwavering commitment and political vision of BRS chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao, crediting him with the state’s formation. “It was KCR’s leadership that galvanised the people’s movement and gave Telangana its identity,” she remarked.
Kavitha did not mince words in criticising the current dispensation, taking aim at what she described as their failure to even raise the slogan ‘Jai Telangana’. “It’s appalling that those in power can’t bring themselves to honour the martyrs or even acknowledge the hard-won freedom of our people,” she said, underscoring the need for a leadership that respects the state’s history.
She also reminded the gathering that Telangana’s birth was a result of the blood, sweat, and tears of countless families who dreamed of a brighter future for their children. “We must never forget the mothers who sent their sons and daughters to the frontlines of the movement,” she said, urging the people to safeguard the legacy of the state’s struggle.
