Hyderabad: BRS MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha has written to Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, urging him to press the Centre for early presidential assent to the state’s BC reservation bills.
In her letter, which was also shared with the media, Kavitha said the bills would guarantee 42% reservation for backward classes in education, employment, and local bodies.
She noted that Bahujan communities have historically played a crucial role in building society and culture, yet their representation in local institutions remains disproportionate to their population.
Kavitha stated that OBC communities have long fought for equal opportunities nationwide, and especially in Telangana.
She added that Telangana Jagruthi, along with UPF, has organised statewide campaigns, round-table meetings, and movements to demand these quotas.
The Telangana government had already passed separate bills in both the Assembly and Council, forwarding them for presidential assent, but approval has not come despite a long wait.
Kavitha appealed to Ramchander Rao to act as a responsible leader and push the Centre to clear the bills, arguing that it would demonstrate both BJP’s sincerity and fairness to the BC community.
