Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC, Telangana Jagruti Chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha welcomed the Telangana Cabinet’s decision to extend 42% reservation to Backwards Classes in the upcoming local body elections.
In a post on social media platform X, Kavitha expressed support for the state government’s move to amend existing laws before holding polls, stating that elections should follow only after BC quota implementation is formalised.
She urged the government to begin necessary procedural steps without delay and described the Cabinet decision as a win for BC communities across Telangana.
Kavitha linked the development to long-standing efforts by the Telangana Jagruthi organisation, which she leads, claiming the push for a 42% BC quota has been a central demand from the outset.
She ended her message with slogans “Jai BC” and “Jai Jagruthi,” tagging them to her post.
