Hyderabad: The Railway Board has moved to approve Vande Bharat coach production at the upcoming Rail Coach Factory in Kazipet, Warangal.
The decision, taken in principle, is expected to be formalised through official orders within the next two months, according to railway sources. Plans under review include manufacturing both chair car and sleeper variants of the Vande Bharat trains at the facility.
Preliminary works are already underway, South Central Railway CPRO Ch Rakesh Sridhar confirmed.
The Centre has allocated ₹521 crore in the Union Budget for the Kazipet factory, originally sanctioned during the tenure of the K. Chandrashekar Rao-led BRS government in Telangana. BRS leaders have claimed credit, citing repeated representations to the Centre that led to the project’s approval.
