Hyderabad: Former Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao greeted the people of Telangana on the eve of the 79th Independence Day, paying tribute to freedom fighters and martyrs whose sacrifices brought India its freedom.
In his message, Rao noted that 79 years have passed since India ended colonial rule and began its journey as an independent nation. He praised the contributions of patriots who played crucial roles in securing that freedom.
KCR links national freedom to the separate Telangana movement
Rao drew a connection between India’s independence movement and the fight for a separate Telangana. He said Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent resistance inspired Telangana’s demand for self-rule. However, he added that in post-independence India, some had misused such sacrifices for political advantage.
He expressed pride in Telangana’s achievements over the last ten years. He described the state as a development model and said Independence Day held deeper meaning when the gains of freedom improved the lives of all citizens.
