Hyderabad: BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao paid tribute to Jharkhand leader Shibu Soren, calling him a tireless fighter for tribal rights and regional identity whose struggles deeply influenced the Telangana statehood movement.

He credited Soren’s unwavering support both moral and political for strengthening the Telangana cause. “He was invited as the first guest for TRS’s inaugural meeting in Hyderabad in 2001,” KCR recalled.
He noted Soren’s advocacy in Parliament during the UPA era, when Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was a coalition partner, helped apply pressure on the Centre during the final stages of Telangana formation in 2014. KCR also remembered meeting Soren again in 2022 after the state’s formation to seek his blessings.
Calling his death a deep loss to India’s federal and democratic fabric, KCR said Soren’s commitment to justice, tribal empowerment, and smaller states would remain etched in history. He offered condolences to Son and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the bereaved family.
