Hyderabad: BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Friday announced Maganti Sunitha Gopinath as the party’s candidate for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election.
The bypoll became necessary after the death of sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath.

KCR said the party chose Sunitha, wife of the late Maganti Gopinath, to honour his services to both the BRS and the people of Jubilee Hills. He added that the decision reflected the wishes of local residents who wanted the family to continue its association with the constituency.
Party leaders described Gopinath as a sincere, selfless leader who earned lasting goodwill in Jubilee Hills. They said the candidature of his wife carried both emotional value and political significance for the party.
