HYDERABAD: Government Advisor K. Keshava Rao has welcomed the release of lecturer recruitment guidelines for state universities, calling it a positive step that reflects Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s deep commitment to the education sector.
Keshava Rao said the Chief Minister’s directive to immediately initiate the process of filling 50 percent of vacant lecturer posts across all state universities was a clear sign of his proactive approach and concern for higher education. He stated that this move would address the shortage of faculty that has been affecting the academic standards in universities for years.
He recalled that they had recently brought to the Chief Minister’s attention the potential threat to NAAC grading due to insufficient teaching staff in universities. “CM Revanth Reddy immediately recognised the seriousness of the issue and responded with prompt action,” said Rao. He added that it had been nearly a decade since any significant lecturer recruitment took place, leaving students to bear the brunt of faculty shortages.
Keshava Rao also revealed that some contract lecturers, part-time lecturers, academic consultants, and time-scale faculty had met him to express concern that the recruitment might jeopardise their current roles. He assured them that their grievances would be addressed with empathy and communicated clearly to the Chief Minister to ensure that no one faces undue hardship.
He affirmed that while the government is committed to raising educational standards across the state, it is equally mindful of the well-being of teaching staff. “CM Revanth Reddy has already made it clear that both quality education and the welfare of educators will remain top priorities,” Keshava Rao said.
