Hyderabad: The Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav entered its 71st year with the towering Khairatabad Ganesh 2025 idol set to draw lakhs of devotees this Vinayaka Chavithi. The 69-foot idol, themed Sri Vishwashanthi Mahashakti Ganapathi, will be flanked by several deities. Sculptors are giving the final touches as the festival begins in two days.
Organisers announced that Lord Jagannath, with Goddess Lakshmi and Hayagriva Swamy will stand on the right side of the idol. On the left, devotees will find Lalitha Tripura Sundari and Goddess Gajjalamma. Sculptors crafted the idol and the mandaps using eco-friendly clay and other green materials.

This year’s idol features three heads, eight hands, and a five-headed serpent hood. On the right, it carries a weapon, the Sudarshana Chakra, a rudraksha mala, and a blessing hand. On the left, it holds a lotus, a conch, and a laddu. Separate mandaps display Lakshmi with Hayagriva Swamy and Goddess Gajjalamma.
The famous Khairatabad laddu also remains a highlight. Until 2021, organisers brought the massive laddu from Tapeswaram in East Godavari district, earning multiple Guinness World Records entries. Since then, local sweet makers in Hyderabad have prepared it.
As tradition dictates, immersion takes place on the 11th day, Anantha Chaturdashi. In 2025, the date falls on September 6, marking it as the likely day of immersion. Organisers expect lakhs of devotees to witness the Khairatabad Ganesh 2025 immersion.
