Hyderabad: A village in Telangana’s Khammam district was cut off after heavy rains lashed Karepalli mandal from Wednesday night to Thursday morning. Floodwaters submerged a key culvert near Anantharam Tanda in Seetharampuram panchayat, halting movement in and out of the area.
As access roads were blocked, local residents transported schoolchildren across the flood-hit culvert using a tractor. With streams and rivulets overflowing, normal life in the village came to a standstill.
Repeated rain damage sparks demand for permanent culvert solution
Villagers said this isn’t the first time they’ve faced such isolation. Each bout of heavy rainfall leads to the same disruption. They called on district officials to either fix or rebuild the culvert right away to avoid future blockages and keep the road accessible year-round.
