Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Friday accused the previous BRS government of obstructing the Warangal airport project by failing to hand over the required land to the Centre.
Speaking at a press meet at the BJP state office in Hyderabad, Kishan Reddy said the Central government had repeatedly asked the state to provide land for the Warangal airport, but the request was ignored. “Telangana has no airport outside Hyderabad. The Centre was ready, but the previous regime did not cooperate,” he said.
He said the Centre was expediting the Kazipet coach factory project, which started with ₹200 crore and has now been allocated an additional ₹200 crore. The facility is being expanded to include locomotive manufacturing alongside coaches and wagons. According to Kishan Reddy, the Kazipet unit will generate nearly 3,000 jobs.
The Minister also announced new railway connections from Telangana to Jodhpur, Kutch, and Ahmedabad. He said MMTS services are set to be extended to Yadagirigutta, with tenders for the expansion already completed.
