Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Friday voiced strong criticism of the Telangana government’s focus, accusing it of prioritising glamour over governance. He questioned the attention being given to the Miss World beauty pageant while, in his view, Hyderabad’s real developmental needs remain overlooked.
During a visit to his Secunderabad parliamentary constituency, Reddy toured Khairatabad’s Himayat Nagar Division and Baggikhana Basti, inspecting a newly built committee hall and interacting with local residents about their civic issues.
Speaking to the media, he urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to redirect focus towards comprehensive urban development, particularly in the older parts of the city. “Hyderabad is not just about high-tech infrastructure there are neglected neighbourhoods that need attention too,” he remarked.
Reddy also condemned recent statements made by Congress leaders concerning the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor. He accused them of disrespecting the armed forces and reminded them of past controversies where leaders, including former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his daughter Kavitha, had sought proof of surgical strikes.
“The entire world acknowledges Operation Sindoor. Our armed forces have clarified that no aircraft was lost during the mission,” he said, criticising Congress for allegedly politicising military operations. “Attack us, attack Prime Minister Modi, that’s politics—we can handle it. But insulting our soldiers is an insult to the nation,” he added.
Reddy’s comments come amid growing political tensions in the state, with national security and urban development becoming key talking points. (NSS)
